The Fair Work Commission will announce its minimum wage decision at 10 am AEST on Tuesday 2 June 2026.

What is the minimum wage decision

The Fair Work Commission (the Commission) is the national workplace relations tribunal. It is responsible for setting minimum wages.

Each year, the Commission conducts the Annual Wage Review and reviews:

The Commission makes a decision each year about whether to increase these pay rates. This is known as the ‘minimum wage decision’.

When is the decision

The Commission will announce its decision at 10 am AEST on Tuesday 2 June 2026.

What this means for you

The decision will determine if there will be a change to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award pay rates.

Any changes are likely to take effect from the first pay period on or after 1 July.

National Minimum Wage

The National Minimum Wage applies to employees who aren’t covered by an awardAn award is a legal document that outlines the wages and conditions of employment for employees that are covered by it within a particular industry or occupation. Awards and agreements

Employees covered by an award or enterprise agreement must be paid the minimum pay rates in their award or agreement, including penalty rates and allowances. These pay rates may be higher than the National Minimum Wage.
