A workplace delegate is a union member who is elected or appointed by the union to represent the industrial interests of other members, including potential members.Delegates can represent members who work in a particular enterprise (for example, workers who are working on the same project as the delegate), or perform work for, or that is arranged or facilitated by, a regulated business (that is, businesses that hire contractors in the road transport industry or digital platform operators).
A workplace determination is similar to an enterprise agreement. In a determination, the Fair Work Commission sets the terms and conditions of employment when the parties can’t agree on their own.
