Who the Ambulance Award covers
The Ambulance Award covers employers in the ambulance and patient transport industry and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.
The ambulance and patient transport industry means providing ambulance and patient transport services, education and training.
Examples of employees covered by the Ambulance Award include:
- ambulance officers
- student ambulance officers
- ambulance paramedics
- intensive care paramedics
- ambulance attendants
- patient transport officers
- clinical transport officers
- clinical support officers
- clerical and administrative employees
- communications call takers
- mechanics
- fleet maintenance officers
- station managers
- team managers
- assistant station officers
- senior station officers.
The Ambulance Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the ambulance and patient transport industry.

Who the Ambulance Award doesn't cover
The following employers and employees are not covered by the Ambulance Award:
- nurses
- health professionals
- medical practitioners (eg. doctors).
The Ambulance Award doesn't cover employers and employees when they are covered by one of the following awards:
- Aged Care Award
- Health Services Award
- Medical Practitioners Award
- Nurses Award
- Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award.
