Who the Timber Award covers

The Timber Award covers employers and their employees working with timber and wood who fit within the classifications of the award and are in the following sectors:

  • harvesting and forestry management
  • milling and processing
  • panel products
  • manufacturing
  • merchandising and retailing
  • pulp and paper.

Timber and wood also includes:

  • any artificial, laminated or manufactured material that are made, constructed or manufactured, which is or can be used in the place of wood or timber, and worked in a similar manner as wood or timber.

    • log segregators
    • measurers
    • loaders
    • cutters
    • machine operators
    • fallers (in plantations)
  • Milling and processing sector
    • tradespersons including sawdoctors, wood machinists, millwrights
    • material graders
    • watch persons
    • boiler operators
    • tradespersons' assistants
    • machine operators
  • Panel products sector
    • assemblers
    • machine operators
    • maintenance workers
  • Manufacturing Sector
    • general hands
    • assemblers
    • painters (non trade)
    • machine operators
    • tradespersons' assistants
    • tradespersons including sawdoctors, wood machinists, carpenters/joiners, grinders and wood turners
  • Merchandising sector
    • machine operators
    • assistant assemblers
    • customer service representatives
    • tradespersons
    • tradespersons' assistants
  • Pulp and paper sector

    • maintenance workers.

The Timber Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation within the timber industry.

Who the Timber Award doesn't cover

The Timber Award doesn't cover employers and employees when they are covered by one of the following awards:

  • Silviculture Award
  • Graphic Arts and Printing Award
  • Road Transport Award
  • Road Transport (Long Distance) Award.
