Who the Professional Diving (Recreational) Award covers

The Professional Diving (Recreational) Award covers employers throughout Australia who provide underwater services for recreational diving and related shipboard services, and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.

‘Australia’ includes all areas that fall within the territorial jurisdiction of the Commonwealth or of a state.

Examples of employees covered by the Professional Diving (Recreational) Award includes:

  • dive instructors
  • dive masters.

In addition to instructing and supervising dives, employees may be required to carry out the duties of deckhands, cooks or skippers, and other undefined duties.

The Professional Diving (Recreational) Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation that provides underwater services for recreational diving.

Who the Professional Diving (Recreational) Award doesn’t cover

The following employers and employees aren’t covered by the Professional Diving (Recreational) Award:

  • employers and their employees who provide underwater services to industry
  • clerical and administrative workers.

The Professional Diving (Recreational) Award doesn’t cover employers and employees when they are covered by the Professional Diving (Industrial) Award.
