Who the Pest Control Award covers
The Pest Control Award covers employers in the pest control industry and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.
The pest control industry means controlling and/or eradicating pests, vermin, feral animals and weeds from domestic, commercial and civic buildings or facilities. It includes:
- inspecting buildings, structures, trees, commodities, and stored products or items for pest activity
- reporting on pest activity in any building or situations where it can occur
- installing, maintaining or inspecting termite, bird or other pest barriers or management systems in buildings or structures that are new or existing (including using any type of fumigants).
Examples of employees and employers covered by the Pest Control Award include:
- licensed pest control technicians
- licensed fumigators
- unlicensed pest control technicians
- unlicensed fumigators
- qualified pest inspectors
- businesses that spray weeds in parks and national parks.
The Pest Control Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the pest control industry.

Who the Pest Control Award doesn’t cover
The following employers and employees are not covered by the Pest Control Award:
- clerical and administrative workers
- employees employed by local government such as a local council or shire.
The Pest Control Award doesn’t cover employers and employees when they are covered by one of the following awards:
- Clerks Award
- Local Government Award
- Manufacturing Award.
