Who the Car Parking Award covers
The Car Parking Award covers employers in the car parking industry and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.
The car parking industry means providing parking and related services for cars and other vehicles on a commercial basis (for example, a car park where payment is made for use of the car space).
Examples of employers and employees covered by the Car Parking Award include:
- Multi story car parks not associated with any other business
- Car parking officers whose work includes:
- parking cars
- using cash registers
- washing cars
- dealing with customer enquiries
- routine security work
- opening and closing of multilevel car parks
- ticket machine loading and emptying
- cleaning work.
The Car Parking Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation in the car parking industry.

Who the Car Parking Award doesn't cover
The following employers and employees are not covered by the Car Parking Award:
- parking and related services for cars that are part of a business that is mainly in another type of industry (for example a car park owned by a retail shop)
- contract cleaners
- trolley collectors
- security guards not employed by the car parking business.
The Car Parking Award doesn't cover employers and employees when they are covered by one of the following awards:
- Clerks Award
- Retail Award
- Hospitality Award
- Local Government Award
- Security Award.
