Who the Silviculture Award covers
The Silviculture Award covers employers in the silviculture and afforestation industry and their employees who fit within the classifications of the award.
The silviculture and afforestation industry means:
- planting
- pruning
- fertilising
- any other activity in or in connection with establishing or cultivating trees in forests.
Examples of employees covered by the Silviculture Award include:
- labourers
- assistant powder monkeys
- chainpersons
- axepersons
- fire pump operators
- field data collectors
- seed collectors (fallen trees and standing trees)
- chainsaw operator
- powder monkeys
- noxious weed employees
- propagators
- fencer fire guards
- tool sharpeners
- tree climbers
- storepersons
- tree measurers and markers
- fire-fighting employees.
The Silviculture Award also covers labour hire businesses and their employees who are placed with an organisation within the Silviculture industry.

Who the Silviculture Award doesn't cover
The following employers and employees are not covered by the Silviculture Award:
- employees who harvest timber
- employees who work in forestry management for harvesting operations
- employees who mill and process logs and raw timber.
