2017 Annual Wage Review - our pay tools are ready

New minimum pay rates and allowances are available in our pay tools. Check the new minimum rates now.

These rates took effect from the first pay period on or after 1 July. For example, if your pay week is from Monday to Sunday, the new rates started from Monday 3 July.

How to find new pay rates

You can get pay rates, penalty rates and allowances from our Pay Calculator. Remember to:

  • select an award and classification
  • select an employment type (full-time, part-time or casual)
  • select the employee's age.

Pay guides

Our Pay guides also include the following updated information for each award classification:

  • minimum pay rates for all employment types
  • common penalty rates
  • commonly used allowances amounts.

Who do the new pay rates apply to?

The increase only applies to employees that get their pay rates from:

  • the national minimum wage
  • a modern award.

If you're not sure which award applies, use Find my award.

If you're covered by a registered agreement, you should check it to see whether the increase affects you.

The increase affects minimum base rates of pay, so employees who are already getting paid more than the new base rate of pay don't have to get an increase.

New penalty rates have also started

Penalty rates for some permanent and casual employees working on Sundays, public holidays, evenings or after midnight in the following awards have been updated in our pay tools as a result of a recent Fair Work Commission (FWC) decision:

  • General Retail Industry Award 2010 [MA000004]
  • Fast Food Industry Award 2010 [MA000003]
  • Restaurant Industry Award 2010 [MA000119]
  • Pharmacy Industry Award 2010 [MA000012]
  • Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 [MA000009]

The changes took effect from the first pay period starting on or after 1 July 2017.

Visit the Penalty rates changes 2017 page for more information about what the changes are, who they affect and how they are being implemented.

If you need help regarding penalty rates in the awards listed above, please contact the FWO by submitting an online enquiry through My account or calling our Fair Work Infoline on 13 13 94.
