Pay rates for part-time trainees
Rates for part-time trainees depend on whether they complete their training on-the-job or off-the-job.
Training completed solely on-the-job or partly on-the-job and partly off-the-job
A part-time trainee who completes at least some of their training on-the-job is paid for all hours worked and time spent in training.
They get paid the part-time trainee rate, minus 20%. This is the same as the full-time trainee rate.
Training completed solely off-the-job
A trainee who completes all their training off-the-job is only paid for hours worked. They don’t get paid for time spent in training.
They get paid the part-time trainee rate.
