About the app
Our Record My Hours app provides a simple way for workers to record and store their work hours, plus other information about their employment. Sometimes employers don’t keep proper employee records. A lack of records makes it difficult for an employee, or us, to address concerns about workplace issues, like underpayments.
We already recommend employees manually document their work hours (for example, in a diary). The app makes that easier by allowing users to:
- automatically record work hours and to manually input shifts or fine-tune shift details
- store work hours and employment information in one place
- export timesheets (including employment information) via email to store safely or share it with their employer, preferred representative, or us if they have a question about their entitlements.
By keeping their own records, employees can remain confident when discussing workplace issues.
Tip: Before upgrading to the latest app version
You must export all work records if you wish to keep them before upgrading to the latest version, as your data won’t migrate across to the new version of the app.
This applies if you're using a version of the app:
- installed before November 2024 on iOS, or
- installed before May 2024 on Android.
Key features
Our Record My Hours app gives users flexible options to record their work hours:
- Automatic shift recording - based on location, the app can record a user’s time at work. Users can adjust their starting and finishing times if they need to, for example, if they don’t leave their workplace during their lunch break.
- Manual shift recording - users can also manually record their time at work. Timesheets exported by the app also differentiate between automatically recorded shifts and manually entered shifts.
Other features include:
- view, store and export shift history
- visualise work hours with a weekly summary of recent shifts
- back up data to personal cloud storage and restore it on a new device or after a factory reset
- keep a record of work hours for multiple jobs and workplaces, all in one place
- take and add photos of employment information that belongs to an employee, like their own payslips.

Android users
Android users who want to use the app to automatically record when they start and finish work, based on their location, should turn off Battery Optimisation (in their phone settings). If battery optimisation is turned on for this app, it may prevent automatic recording from working.
