Rostered days off

A rostered day off (RDO) is a day in a roster period that an employee doesn't have to work.

An employee's day off can be paid or unpaid, depending on how RDOs are set out in an award or registered agreement.

When RDOs are paid, it is because an employee has worked extra hours that add up over a set period of time and this is taken as an RDO.

Cleaning Award

Based on what you've told us, it looks like you're covered by the Cleaning Services Award 2010 [MA000022].

Full-time employees can accumulate paid RDOs. The timing and number of RDOs depends on the system of working ordinary hours at the workplace.

Where a system of working is adopted that allows 1 rostered day off in each 4 week period or allows employees to bank RDOs, employees can only get a maximum of 12 RDOs in any 12 months.

Once the system of working ordinary hours of work has been agreed to, it can only be changed with 1 week's notice except if there is an emergency.
