2019 Annual Wage Review – our pay tools are ready
26 June 2019
Check out the new minimum rates now.
These rates apply from the first pay period on or after 1 July.
So, if your pay week is from Wednesday to Tuesday, the new rates take effect from Wednesday 3 July.
Where can you find the new pay rates?
You can get pay rates, penalty rates and allowances from our Pay Calculator. Remember to set the date to 1 July 2019 or after.
Our Pay guides have also been updated and include the following:
- minimum pay rates for all employment types
- most penalty rates and allowances.
Who do the new pay rates apply to?
The 3.0% annual wage review increase applies to employees who get their pay rates from:
- the national minimum wage, or
- a modern award.
The increase affects minimum pay rates, so employees who are already paid more than the new minimum pay rate don’t have to get an increase.
If you’re not sure which award covers you, use Find my award.
If you’re covered by a registered agreement, check it to see whether the increase affects you.
Changes to penalty rates
Following a couple of Fair Work Commission decisions in 2017 and 2018, some penalty rates in the following awards will also change from 1 July 2019:
- Fast Food Industry Award 2010
- General Retail Industry Award 2010
- Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010
- Pharmacy Industry Award 2010
The changes could affect permanent and casual employees.
Updated rates are now available in our Pay Calculator. Remember to set the date to 1 July 2019 or after. Visit our Penalty rates changes page for more information.
