Minimum employment conditions, for employees in the national workplace relations system, are covered by the National Employment Standards (NES). The national minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Panel of Fair Work Australia each year and generally takes effect on 1 July.

Termination of employment
The Fair Work Ombudsman educates employers and employees of their rights and obligations on termination, including redundancy, resignation or dismissal. Fair Work Australia is responsible for unfair dismissals and unlawful termination matters.
