Who do Pay scales cover?

If an employee was previously covered by a Pay Scale and there is no modern award for the work that they do, then the Pay Scale continues to apply (until it is terminated by Fair Work Australia). Pay Scale summaries include pay rates for juniors, apprentices and trainees where applicable.

A pay scale could cover:

  • full-time employees
  • part-time employees
  • casual employees
  • piece work employees
  • commission-only employees.

If you are unsure what you are covered by, you can contact us or use Live Chat.

Note: In a pay scale, rates of pay will be either a periodic or a piece rate of pay. An employee who's entitled to get a periodic rate of pay must, under law, be paid the rate of pay for each hour they work.
