Modern awards replaced pay scales for most workers from 1 July 2010
Pay scales set minimum wages under pre-reform awards and NAPSAs. They applied to most employees in the national workplace relations system between 27 March 2006 and 31 December 2009.
Modern awards started on 1 January 2010, and replaced pay scales. However the transitional arrangements in most modern awards meant that rates from pay scales continued to apply until 1 July 2010.
To find historical pay rates see Pay scale summaries.
Note: if you aren’t covered by a modern award, a pay scale could still apply. However this isn’t common, see Who do pay scales cover? for more information.
