Casual employees are entitled to an hourly casual loading for every hour that they work. The casual loading compensates them for entitlements they do not receive such as paid annual leave and paid personal leave.
Note: When rostering your casual employees, each shift must be at least 4 hours. If your casual employees work shifts that are less than 4 hours, they still need to be paid for 4 hours’ work. For more information, visit the Hours of work page.
Your casual employees are entitled to overtime rates when they work in excess of the ordinary hours of work. The overtime rates apply in lieu of the casual loading. For more information visit the Overtime section.
