What types of businesses are covered by the Fast Food Award?

The Fast Food Industry Award 2010 (referred to as the Fast Food Award throughout these pages) covers employers throughout Australia who are in the fast food or take away industry and their employees in the classifications listed in the award.

Businesses in the fast food industry include those selling meals, snacks and / or drinks to the public primarily to take away or in food courts in shopping centres.

The Fast Food Award covers employers who supply labour on an on-hire basis in the fast food industry (and their on - hire employees who fall within the classifications in the award) and employers who provide group training services for trainees engaged in the fast food industry (and relevant trainees).

The Fast Food Award doesn’t cover employers in the hospitality industry (such as restaurants, licensed clubs and hotels) or the retail industry (such as grocery or fruit and vegetable shops).
