Annual shut down

If an employee is covered by an award or enterprise agreement, the terms of the relevant industrial instrument should be checked to see whether the employee is required to take paid annual leave during a period of shut down.

Awards

From 1 January 2010, modern awards cover most workplaces.  Modern awards were created to establish one set of minimum conditions for employers and employees across Australia who work in the same industries or occupations. This section deals with questions about awards.

Pay

National Employment Standards

The National Employment Standards (NES) are set out in the Fair Work Act 2009 and comprise 10 minimum standards of employment. They provide a safety net for all employees in the national workplace relations system. This section deals with questions about the NES.
