WA/SA/NT – Cafes, Restaurants and Take Away Foods Audit Program 2012

Campaign summary: Commencing in May 2012, Fair Work Inspectors in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory will be undertaking an audit program focussing on the cafes, restaurants and take away food sectors. The audit program will assess compliance with hourly rates of pay, allowances, record-keeping, payslip and minimum hours of engagement obligations When Fair Work Inspectors visit the businesses to assess their records they will also provide the opportunity for a demonstration on how to use the FWO’s online tools and resources.
Kalgoorlie Apprentices, trainees and juniors compliance program 2010

Campaign summary: Apprentices, trainees and juniors are regarded to be vulnerable workers, who often fear raising workplace concerns with their employer. Consequently, the Kalgoorlie office of the Fair Work Ombudsman is undertaking a compliance program of employers who engage apprentices, trainees and/or junior workers within the region. Specifically focussing on employers within the child care, hairdressing, manufacturing, hospitality and electrical industries, Fair Work Inspectors will be educating employers on their obligations and ensuring that apprentices, trainees and junior workers are receiving their correct wage entitlements.
Supermarkets Follow Up Campaign 2010

Campaign summary: Fair Work Inspectors from WA will be targeting supermarkets in a follow up campaign to be conducted throughout the next 12 months. We intend to target 103 employers previously investigated or audited by FWO, in an endeavour to increase compliance with Commonwealth workplace laws. After consulting key industry stakeholders, we will undertake education and audit activity among employers from October 2010 until July 2011. The campaign will be run in three phases, with each phase focusing on a different area in or around Perth.
