ACT- Restaurant Industry Audit Program 2011

Campaign summary: Fair Work Inspectors will be auditing 100 ACT restaurants between October 2011 and March 2012. The audits will assess compliance with hourly rates of pay, pay slip and record keeping obligations. This program has been implemented based on the number of complaints lodged with and calls made to the FWO from hospitality industry employees over the past year.

NSW / ACT - Fair Work Information Statement Audit Program 2011-2012

Campaign summary: Following the success of the 2010 - 2011 Fair Work Information Statement audit program, Fair Work Inspectors will continue with the program in 2011 and 2012. As well as assessing employers’ compliance with issuing new employees with a Fair Work Information Statement, the program is aimed to increase employers awareness of the FWO’s role.

NSW - Real Estate Industry Campaign 2011

Campaign summary: The real estate industry has been subject to significant changes as a result of the introduction of the Fair Work Act 2009 and the Real Estate Industry Award 2010 (the award). In a recent meeting with FWO, industry stakeholders expressed concern that some employers were not complying with the requirements of the award regarding commission only payments.
Based on the information provided FWO will be undertaking audits in the NSW real estate industry. In addition to ensuring employers are complying with award requirements for commission only agents, Fair Work Inspectors will also be reviewing time and wage records of real estate office administration staff.
During the education phase of the campaign, Fair Work Inspectors have been conducting industry workshops, webinars and disseminating fact sheets on employer obligations. The audit phase of the campaign commences in December 2011.

Fair Work Information Statement Audit Program

Date: 28 October 2010

Campaign Type: Regional

Campaign summary: New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory Fair Work Inspectors will be randomly targeting employers between October 2010 and July 2010 to assess compliance with the provision of Fair Work Information Statements to their new employees. Fair Work Information Statements form part of the 10 new minimum entitlements under the National Employment Standard.
