Trainee wage calculators

You can use our trainee wage calculators to find minimum pay rates for trainees in common industries. Click on the link for the industry you want to know about:

If you can’t use these calculators or are in a different industry, contact us.

You shouldn't use the calculators if:

  • the business was previously covered by a transitional Award, a Division 2B State award, or the Queensland Order - Apprentices' and Trainees' Wages and Conditions
  • the trainee is doing a school-based traineeship
  • the trainee is doing a certificate 4 qualification.

If you're not sure, contact us.

Information you will need

Before you start using a trainee wage calculator, you need to know:

  • the modern award that covers the job
  • the pre-modern award that would have covered the job before 1 January 2010 - use Award Finder to help with this
  • information about the training package and the certificate level of the qualification the trainee is doing - the registered training organisation or the Australian Apprenticeships Centre External link icon can help with this
  • when the trainee finished secondary school and the highest level they completed.
